National Instruments/Ettus Research LFRX-LF USRP Daughterboard

The LFRX-LF (part number: 782752-01) is an effective USRP Daughterboard from Ettus Research (an NI brand). This cost-effective daughterboard offers direct access to the ADC inputs, accepting either real-mode or quadrature signals ranging from DC to 30 MHz. This board is best suited for applications that utilize an external front end, offering comparatively clean signals within the usable bandwidth. The LFRX-LF is often referred to as just the LFRX daughterboard. The addition of the “-LF” refers to the board’s “low frequency” status.

Each RF input of the LFRX-LF is connected to a single channel of the ADC via high-speed op-amps. The FPGA manipulates the signals that the ADC samples, processing them as either a single I-Q pair or two real-mode signals. There a 4 frontends on the daughterboard: frontend A (antenna RXA), frontend B (antenna RXB), frontend AB (both antennas, IQ), and frontend BA (both antennas, QI). Frontends A and B are real-mode, with a bandwidth of 33 MHz. Frontends AB and BA are both complex, with a bandwidth of 66 MHz.

The RF connectors of the device are female SMA connectors. Every RF port is matched to 50 Ohm, and they typically have a return loss of -10dB or less. The daughterboard has an input power of +10 dBm maximum.

There are no programmable gains or customizable components on the LFRX-LF. Signals that are higher than the Nyquist rate of the ADC can be down-converted through aliasing. This daughterboard is compatible with both the N or X USRP series.

In terms of environmental specifications, the operating temperature range spans from 0°C to 40°C. The humidity range for operating conditions should be noncondensing, ranging from 10% to 90%.
